SUNDAY'S race meeting at Bangor on Dee has been abandoned due to the impact of adverse weather conditions on the course.

The course failed an inspection on Wednesday due to damage caused by recent flooding made worse by further downpours this week.

Bangor on Dee Races tweeted: "Unfortunately we experienced significant flood damage to the track and fences during January, these areas are now waterlogged following further rain today. Therefore, our meeting this Sunday 14 March has been abandoned."

Seven races had been scheduled to take place, including the Bangor on Dee Handicap Steeple Chase and the Overton on Dee Handicap Hurdle Race. The Irish Thoroughbred Marketing Mares' Handicap Steeple Chase with prize money of £12,400 was also due to be run in the afternoon.

The next scheduled meeting on the Bangor on Dee fixture list is Saturday, April 17.
