OVER 40 new coronavirus cases have been confirmed in North Wales, the latest data shows.

Public Health Wales figures released on Sunday (March 21) show that between March 19 and 20, 43 cases were confirmed in the region.

Yesterday's figures showed Flintshire had seen the highest daily increase in cases in Wales, but today's figures (10 cases) are back down to a level commonly seen across Wales.

A full breakdown of new North Wales cases is as follows:

  • Anglesey - 9 (Seven-day infection rate of 114.2)
  • Conwy - 9 (Seven-day infection rate of 68.3)
  • Denbighshire - 3 (Seven-day infection rate of 33.4)
  • Flintshire - 10 (Seven-day infection rate of 67.9)
  • Gwynedd - 7 (Seven-day infection rate of 51.4)
  • Wrexham - 5 (Seven-day infection rate of 30.9)

Sadly, a further six people who had tested positive for coronavirus in the last 28 days died in Wales in the latest 24-hour period.

About 10 per cent of Wales' population have now received both doses of the coronavirus vaccine, with over 1.2 million people having had at least one dose.

Dr Christopher Williams, incident director for the Novel Coronavirus (Covid-19) outbreak response at Public Health Wales, said:“While the level of infection across Wales has declined in recent weeks, there are still several areas which have substantially higher rates.

“It is vitally important that we don’t lose the substantial gains that have been made, and therefore I would like to send a clear message to everyone that Coronavirus hasn’t gone away and there are still a large number of people who have not been vaccinated.  In order to protect everyone, including the most vulnerable, everyone must stick to the rules.

“Welsh Government restrictions state that you should not go into any other household or mix with other people who you don’t live with."
