OVER 40 new coronavirus cases have been confirmed in North Wales, the latest data shows. 

Public Health Wales figures released on Wednesday (March 24) show that between March 22 and March 23, 42 new cases of the virus were confirmed in the region.

Anglesey's seven-day infection rate per 100,000 population remains over 100, with Wales' national infection rate standing at 41.

A full breakdown of new North Wales cases is as follows: 

  • Anglesey - 12 (Seven-day infection rate of 101.4)
  • Conwy - 10 (Seven-day infection rate of 51.2)
  • Denbighshire - 2 (Seven-day infection rate of 26.1)
  • Flintshire - 10 (Seven-day infection rate of 71.7)
  • Gwynedd - 4 (Seven-day infection rate of 41.7)
  • Wrexham - 4 (Seven-day infection rate of 33.8)

Sadly, a further three people who had tested positive for coronavirus in the last 28 days died in Wales between March 22 and March 23.

This takes Wales' total number of suspected coronavirus-related deaths to 5,491.

Roughly 10 per cent of Wales' population have now received both doses of the coronavirus vaccine, with over 1.3 million people having had at least one dose.
