A EIGHT-year-old girl and her Nanna have written and published a book about unicorns.

Alysa is a pupil at Ysgol Bryn Hedydd in Rhyl.

The little girl drew the illustrations for the book called 'Alysa’s love for unicorns' and Nanna Caroline Richardson wrote the story.

The book was created in the hope that Alysa has something positive to remember when looking back on the Pandemic in years to come.

Mum Lisa Williams said: "The book is a legacy in which a seven-year-old can hold and remember something positive from this last year.

"I'm extremely proud of my daughter and I believe that you can be and have whatever you desire.

"I am immensely proud that Alysa has adopted this mindset, especially after such an eventful year."

Alysa, who is a keen horse rider who loves horses and unicorns, saw the published version of the book for the first time on her birthday when she turned eight earlier this month.

Lisa added: "The book is about a girl named Alysa who goes on a journey of magical wishes she makes with the magical powers of the unicorns."

Alysa was able to write the book after forming a bubble with her Nanna Caroline, 54. It took the duo nine months to put together.

Caroline is also author of 'Memories of a Seaside Girl' poetry book.

Lisa, of Rhyl, said: "During lockdown, doing this helped them both. They had numerous video calls in the first lockdown where Alysa wasn't able to see her Nanna. They would draw and talk about unicorns.

"Once we were allowed to form a bubble with Nanna they used this time to be creative together."

The book has been self-published and is available to buy on Amazon.

Alysa, who believe unicorns are magical, said: "I feel really proud of myself."
