AN INSPIRATIONAL fitness instructor and her tireless dog are to walk to the peak of Moel Famau every day in May.

Kat Jones is undertaking the challenge to raise money for her friend's son who is due to undergo an operation to remove his scapula bone as part of cancer treatment.

Jack Joy, 16, was diagnosed with Ewing's sarcoma after parents, Emma Joy and Daniel Hoofe, took him to Wrexham Maelor when he complained of a sore arm.

In the last nine months since being diagnosed with , Jack has travelled to and from the Christie Hospital in Manchester - sometimes daily - to undergo gruelling bouts of treatment.

His Connah's Quay family have launched a fundraising campaign and Kat, who runs her own fitness firm Aspire to Inspire Fitness, wanted to help.

She, along with her dog Jax, will walk to the top of the mountain 31 times to raise finds and awareness.

"I also have a very active dog who likes walks!"

Kat started her fitness business just before the first lockdown, but quickly adapted to offer busy women sessions online to boost their physical and mental well-being.

Emma and Daniel are also organising a charity night on Saturday, July 17, 2021, at the Cricket Club in Connah's Quay.

Emma said: I’m looking for anybody who would like to kindly donate a gift for us to raffle off and raise as much as we can."

She added: "I want to thank everyone so far for all their amazing donations and kind words."
