THE UK weather is set to change once again as temperatures are predicted to rise this week, with summer fast approaching.

After what has felt like a long winter, with high winds and snowfall, we are likely to see the warm weather return as temperatures are set to hit 17C this week with sunshine and clear skies predicted.

However, despite the warm days ahead, colder nights will still be creeping up, with temperatures dropping to 0C on Wednesday evening.

Thursday and Friday are set to see clear skies with highs of 17C.

On Monday, temperatures reached as high as 17 degrees in some areas with the Met Office saying the sunshine was as 'strong at this time of the year as it is in late August'.

They took to social media to say: "If you are spending a lot of time outside over the next few days, be aware that #UV levels will be moderate in most places and occasionally high in southern areas."

Here's what the Met Office predicts for the week

Tuesday:

Cold start with clear skies in the southeast, then largely dry with sunny spells and cloud bubbling up throughout the day. Into the afternoon, the odd isolated shower is possible. Maximum temperature 17 °C.

Outlook for Wednesday to Friday:

Largely cloudy on Wednesday with some scattered showers. Skies clear afterwards, for fine and dry conditions into Thursday and Friday. Overnight frosts remain likely.

For hayfever sufferers, the Met Office has said there will be high levels of pollen over the next few days.

A spokesman said: "High levels of tree pollen for many areas over the next couple of days, with birch and ash tree pollen particularly prevalent.

"If you suffer with hayfever, you'll be pleased to know that pollen levels reduce by Wednesday as it becomes cooler and cloudier in most places."
