THE new headteacher at Ruthin School has created a bit of history by becoming the first female to lead the school in more than 700 years.
Sue Frencham was recently appointed to the role of Interim Head at the Independent school following the departure of Paul Wallace-Woodroffe.
Last week, it was announced that Sue Frencham would take his place, at least for the time being, having been with the school for the last nine years.
A statement from Ruthin School confirming the appointment, read: “We are delighted that Sue Frencham has agreed to step up to the role of Interim Head at Ruthin.
"Having been at the school since 2013, and most recently excelling as our Assistant Head, Academic, she brings the skills, experience and familiarity with the school necessary to take Ruthin forward.
"She is also the first female head of the School in over 700 years which is an important milestone.”
Ruthin School is one of the oldest in the United Kingdom, having been established in 1284.
Originally established as a school just for boys, it became a co-educational school in 1990.
