A ROAD will remain closed "for some time" following a serious crash on Thursday morning.

North Wales Police, Welsh Ambulance Service, Wales Air Ambulance and North Wales Fire and Rescue Service are in attendance at the incident on the A494 in Dolgellau.

Motorists have been urged to avoid the area.

A Welsh Ambulance Service spokesperson said: “We were called at approximately 8.13pm to reports of a road traffic collision on the A494, Dolgellau.

"We are currently on scene with three emergency ambulances and are being supported by Wales Air Ambulance and the Emergency Medical Retrieval and Transfer Service.

"We were also supported by police and fire crews.”

Police tweeted: "Please be aware that the A494 in Dolgellau is currently closed following a serious road traffic collision.

"The road will be closed for some time and diversions will be put in place.

"Please avoid the area if you can."

Traffic Wales tweeted: "Road closed due to collision at Bontnewydd, emergency services are on scene.

"Please avoid the area if possible."
