NORTH Wales Police are warning Denbigh residents to remain vigilant after a person from the area lost £7,000 to a scammer.

According to NWP's Community Safety Central team, a resident of Ruthin Road recently lost the sum after someone pretending to be from the bank had called them.

A statement from the team warning locals read: "Unfortunately a resident of Ruthin Road in #Denbigh has been the victim of a scam. The resident received a call stating they were from the bank and that their had been fraudulent activity on the account.

"The scammer has then convinced the resident to transfer £7000. If you know of anyone who could be taken in by this type of scam please let them know."
