PUPILS at Ysgol Glan Clwyd will return to face to face learning on Wednesday, May 12, after a reported positive Covid-19 result over the weekend.

NHS Wales Test, Trace, Protect has been working closely with the school, Public Health Wales and the local authority, and a further test has come back negative.

As a result, they are now satisfied students who had been requested to isolate, have not been exposed to the virus at the school and it is safe for them to return to normal activities.

Headteacher Gwyn Tudur said: “We have worked with all parties to ensure the protection of our pupils in the first instance and following further work we will now be able to welcome pupils back from blended learning to face to face learning tomorrow.”

Cllr Huw Hilditch-Roberts, the Council’s Lead Member for Education, Children's Services and Public Engagement, said: “We appreciate the disruption this has caused but we have to take every precaution when an initial test is positive, however after a confirmatory test came back negative we are able to welcome pupils back. We worked with Public Health Wales and the school to ensure the safety of pupils at all times.”

Parents/guardians are asked to remain alert for the main symptoms of coronavirus:

• A new or continuous cough

• A high temperature

• A loss of or change to sense of smell or taste

Those advised to self-isolate should book a coronavirus test if they develop any of these symptoms, even if they are mild. A test can be booked by phoning 119 or online.
