FIACRE KELLEHER feels sharing the goals out around the team bodes well for Wrexham’s final promotion push.

Midfielder Luke Young became the Reds’ leading scorer with 10 goals when he was on target in Saturday’s 3-0 win over Yeovil which kept Dean Keates’ side on course for a play-off spot.

In-form midfielder Jordan Davies also found the net as he struck for the sixth time in as many outings with skipper Shaun Pearson getting his first goal of an injury plagued season.

Although it was a blow to lose striker Kwame Thomas with a long term injury at the start of April, Kelleher has welcomed the fact that players in all positions are weighing in with goals.

“The goals are coming from everywhere at the moment which is great,” said Kelleher.

“Shaun got off the mark against Yeovil and we looked a real danger from set-pieces which is really good.

“Everybody needs to be playing their part in the goals so it is good to see that they are coming from everywhere.

“It makes it harder for the opposition as well that there is not just one player scoring, we have a few.”

Wrexham were in the goals against Yeovil - they had chances to win by a bigger scoreline - but they were also solid in defence.

Kelleher believes the back three, comprising himself, Pearson and Theo Vassell, have combined well in recent matches.

“We are all good in the air and we read things really well,” said Kelleher.

“We complement one another and we have settled together. I think we are doing well.

“Shaun has come in and we are settled again.

“We are taking a lot of confidence from each game and we have kept a few clean sheets.

“It has been going well and at a vital part of the season too.

“We couldn’t ask for much more against Yeovil.”

Kelleher has found himself lining up as the right-sided centre-back since Pearson returned from injury, rather than being used as the central defender, but it is a role he is comfortable with.

“I don’t think the gaffer really thought I could play on the right side,” said Kelleher.

“But I think my performances have been solid there.

“Maybe he was looking at it that I am not as quick as Theo but once my positioning is fine it doesn’t really matter how quick you are because I will be in the right place.

“It has gone really well for me and I am just happy that we are keeping clean sheets and I am keeping my place.”

Wrexham have four games remaining in their bid to secure a top-seven finish, starting with Saturday’s trip to Boreham Wood, and Kelleher added: "It will just be a case of doing what we did against Yeovil.

“Getting on top of teams, playing with that aggression and when we have those chances, just take them.”
