Cllr Taylor said: "Theresa's had the most difficult of years during which to be mayor and she's held things together really, really well and steered the council through what's been unprecedented times.

"I would like to express my appreciation to Theresa for all she has done for the town."

Cllr Taylor said she is "absolutely honoured and privileged" to take up the position of mayor and vowed to do all she can to support the people of Mold.

"This pandemic has, if anything, brought out the best in people," she said.

"And we need to harness and drive that enthusiasm for the future.

"We need to be ambitious but also cautious, to look forward, not backward - but we must not forget. We need to be courageous, not scared. We to enjoy life but also be reflective.

"Most of all, this year we need to have fun, but we need to do so in a respectful and safe manner."

Cllr Taylor added: "I want to put the M for magic back in Mold this year. Magic will return in the form of our events, life will return and we will start to live again.

"This is a year for regrouping, reinvigorating, reestablishing and remembering. I promise to do my very best to bring the magic back to Mold."

Due to Covid restrictions, Cllr Taylor was presented with the mayoral chain by eldest granddaughter, Mia.
