MORE THAN half of people over 50 in Denbighshire have received two doses of a Covid-19 vaccine, figures reveal.

Public Health Wales data shows 26,753 people aged 50 and over have been given both doses of a vaccine up to May 9 – 58% of the area's age group.

They make up part of the 42,462 people who have been given at least one jab – 92% of the over-50 population.

Figures on second doses for each age group in Denbighshire show:

• 50 to 54 – 1,577 administered (22%)

• 55 to 59 – 1,792 administered (23%)

• 60 to 64 – 1,829 administered (27%)

• 65 to 69 – 4,267 administered (69%)

• 70 to 74 – 6,163 administered (91%)

• 75 to 79 – 4,461 administered (92%)

• 80 and over – 5,914 administered (92%)

Across Wales, 850,000 people have had both doses, 33% of the over-16 population, and 1.9 million (75%) have had at least one dose.

Vaccinations are being given at 546 locations across Wales, including at 360 GPs' surgeries, 41 vaccination centres and 35 hospitals.

The Welsh Government aims for all adults to have been offered a vaccine by the end of July.
