A NEW spa opening in the Conwy Valley next week is already taking bookings for next year.

The Wave Garden Spa, a new £1.25million 650 square metre spa, will open at Adventure Parc Snowdonia in Dolgarrog on May 18. The wellbeing facility is open in tandem with the brand new 106-bedroom Hilton Garden Inn Snowdonia.

During the virtual spa opening of the Wave Garden Spa, Kate Dunne, spa manager, revealed the venue was already taking bookings for 2022.

"We've actually had bookings for next year already which is great," she said.

"We do have some availability in the next couple of months but we are getting really far ahead [with bookings].

"There is a lot of interest in September as well."

The spa aims to take guests on a 'fragrant journey'. There is a vitality waterfall pool, steam room and oversized Himalayan salt sauna, all which have views out across the surf lagoon to the mountains and beyond.

The Wave Garden Spa is the only one is North Wales to have a double hammam room for steam-based cleansing and purifying rituals.

Danni Hitchen, Adventure Parc Snowdonia director and sister to Andy Ainscough, also Adventure Parc Snowdonia’s managing director, said there were plans to open and build the spa prior to the pandemic.

She said: "I definitely feel, we definitely feel, Covid will actually enhance our opening because people are absolutely desperate to get away, to go and relax and socialise with family and friends and everything."

Talking about some of the challenges over the last 12 months, Mr Ainscough said: "We are opening the new business and spa in the hotel but our existing business, the adventure park, has been closed for 12 months. So bar the obvious, no business, no revenue etc complications of builders on our site, social distancing on a building site.

"We are in a very small community so lots of contracts come from outside Wales into a little village.

"If it is not Covid, it is Brexit."

The spa had wanted to open seven months ago.

"We are at seven months at the date we were meant to open now," Mr Ainscough added.

"Positives - it has allowed us to open this time of year rather than the summer of going into a winter period which is obviously a challenge for us."

Outside, the spa has a warm hydrotherapy pool, loungers, relaxation pods and fire pits to keep guests cosy.

There is a traditional wooden barrel sauna, a fragrant herb garden [which is going to be used within the spa] and a multipurpose relaxation space come yoga studio.

The Wave Garden Spa has partnered with marine skincare brand, Thalgo and Tribe517, a "bespoke" product line made in Wales using natural ingredients sourced from the area.
