CARE home residents celebrated the return of day trips as lockdown restrictions on outdoor spaces were eased.

Bradshaw Manor, in Rhyl, has taken residents on long-awaited visits to the beach, where they were able to have an ice cream, enjoy the views and eat some fish and chips.

“It is absolutely wonderful to be able to take our residents out for trips again,” said Heidi Crompton, general manager. “We have all been waiting for this day and we are so thankful it is finally here.

"Residents have enjoyed entertainment during lockdown but nothing beats some fresh air and a change of scenery to blow away the cobwebs.”

Bradshaw Manor, which provides nursing care, dementia residential care and respite care, runs a life enrichment programme to keep residents active and provides a daily choice of physical, mental and spiritual activities tailored to residents’ interests and abilities.

Reginald Tanser, care home resident who worked with the RNLI or many years, was able to visit the new lifeboat station in Llandudno for the first time as restrictions were relaxed.

“It was great to see it first-hand. Lots of memories came flooding back,” he said.

"Staff here have been brilliant throughout lockdown, putting on all kind of different events to keep us entertained. We have been very well looked after but it is lovely to be able to go out and about again.

“It really does feel like life is starting to get back to normal.”
