A CAVE located in a conservation area has been damaged and vandalised.
North Wales Police said damage has been caused to the wildlife and archaeological site near St Asaph.
The cave is a Site of Special Scientific Interest (SSSI) due to bats and is protected by heritage body Cadw due to its archaeological significance.
"Unknown persons have gained entry by causing damage to a secured cave on the outskirts of St Asaph," the Rural Crime Team tweeted. "Once inside they have graffitied the interior.
"The site is SSSI due to bats and also under the stewardship [of] Cadw due to archaeological reasons."
Anyone with information related to the incident should call police on 101 and reference the quote Z093937.
