CLWYD West MS Darren Millar has praised a new £1.2m community facility at a Denbighshire rural college following a recent visit.
Darren visited Coleg Cambria - Llysfasi near Ruthin last week to meet with Assistant Principal of Technical Studies, Elin Roberts, and Llysfasi Farm Manager, Dewi Jones.
During the visit he had a tour of the college's new Community Hub, a £1.2 million rural education centre that will be available for local community use.
The two-storey site includes IT and multimedia suites, space for workshops, classrooms, breakout spaces, a kitchen area, offices, and meeting rooms which will deliver bilingual and family and community-focused services.
The new building is part of an ongoing plan to invest in the site to provide state of the art facilities for the benefit of learners and staff. Further developments are in the pipeline, subject to grant funding from the Welsh Government.
Mr Millar said: “Coleg Cambria Llysfasi has long been committed to supporting local communities across North Wales and this new building will enable them to expand on their work in this area.
“It is an extremely impressive facility which will be a real asset to the local community for many years to come.”
He added: “I have been visiting Llysfasi for many years during my time as an MS and it has been great to watch it develop in that time.
“It is really going from strength to strength with a significant increase in student numbers in recent years.
“I commend all those involved in the development of the new community hub, which they managed to complete on time despite the challenges of the pandemic, and thank the college for the fantastic, ever expanding opportunities they provide for people to explore and achieve their full potential.”
