DENBIGH TOWN FC put twelve goals past Rhuddlan Town to progress to the first round proper of the FAW Welsh Cup.
Dewi Llion's side showed no mercy to a side who had enjoyed a cup upset by knocking higher league opponents St Asaph City out of the competition on penalties just two weeks earlier.
Rhuddlan Town took a shock lead early on when their hero of the last round, Ryan Potts, netted after just seven minutes when a corner fell at his feet and he finished well.
The lead didn't last long however as Denbigh stepped up their game and drew level through a penalty.
Kristian Pierce floated a free kick into the Rhuddlan penalty box and the ball hit a defender on the arm, a penalty was awarded and up stepped last season's top scorer Jake Walker to equalise.
By eighteen minutes Denbigh went ahead after skipper Mark Roberts’ free kick on goal took a deflection and went into the net.
Walker’s second goal of the afternoon came via a header on 34mins and just two minutes later he had his hat-trick from close range following some great work from Dan Clarke who provided the assist.
Rhuddlan then missed a penalty before Clarke again provided an assist for Roberts to make it 5-1 at the break.
Rhuddlan pulled one back in the second half when Denbigh's Mike Sharples put it into his own net via a header.
But Denbigh awoke and took it up a notch once more. Lee Davey fired in a fierce shot at goal which Roberts diverted in with a fantastic instinctive header.
The captain then had his fourth of the afternoon momnets later following a rebound before Clarke scored the eighth with a low ball.
Substitute Jacob Barratt made it nine from a header on 72mins before Roberts added his fifth of the game two minutes later.
Another goal from Barratt and a late one from Lee Davey completed the incredible scoreline.
Talking to the club website after the match, Denbigh Town manager Dewi Llion Jones said: “After the early scare of them getting an early goal, we regrouped and put in a very impressive display going forward and created some excellent goals. It stands us in good stead for the start of the league next week.”
