A WOMAN has been left with serious injuries after a car ploughed into her and two others at a family festival in Denbighshire.

Emergency services were called after the unoccupied vehicle ran over a tent at the Conscious Tribal Gathering near Glyndyfrdwy, near Corwen, on Saturday afternoon.

The vehicle had rolloed down a hill and struck three people, a man, woman and child, who were sitting outside their tent.

The woman was flown to hospital with serious injuries and is said to be in a critical condition.

North Wales Police has launched an investigation into the incident and is liaising with Denbighshire Council's Health and Safety Executive.

A spokesperson for the force said: “We were called shortly after 1.30pm on Saturday to a report that an unoccupied vehicle had rolled downhill over a tent at a campsite near Corwen.

“A man, a woman and a child were sitting outside the tent at the time.

“The woman was airlifted to hospital in Stoke where she remains with serious injuries.

“The man and the child were also taken to hospital, but with injuries believed to be minor.”

The not-for-profit festival is billed as a “family-friendly event to connect with like-minded souls and explore the inner and outer spaces of our human existence and beyond.”

The festival's website says: “Vehicles must be parked away from hilly inclines, ie. following the valley rather than facing down the hill.”

A Welsh Ambulance Service spokesperson said: "We were called 1.24pm on Saturday, July 24, to reports of a road traffic collision involving pedestrians in the Glyndyfrdwy area of Corwen.

“We responded with a rapid response vehicle, an emergency ambulance and the Wales Air Ambulance.

“One patient was flown to the Royal Stoke University Hospital and two further patients were taken to Wrexham Maelor Hospital by road.”

Anyone who witnessed the incident is asked to contact the North Wales Police Roads Policing Unit via 101, or via the live web chat, quoting reference number 21000516358.
