OVER 200 new cases of coronavirus have been confirmed in North Wales. 

Public Health Wales figures released on Sunday (August 1) show that 220 new cases have been confirmed.

Denbighshire's seven-day infection rate (405.5) is currently by far the highest in Wales. 

A full breakdown of new North Wales cases is as follows: 

Anglesey - 9 

Conwy - 36

Denbighshire - 72

Flintshire - 41

Gwynedd - 20 

Wrexham - 42

Sadly, a further five people who had tested positive for coronavirus in the last 28 days have died in the latest 24-hour period.

Over two million people in Wales have now had both doses of the coronavirus vaccine.

Hospital admission and inpatient rates in North Wales have crept up in recent weeks, but remain very low in comparison to the first and second waves of the virus.

In North Wales, two per cent (56) of its hospitals' inpatients are coronavirus patients.
