CLWYD SUPERLEAGUE

TOP CLUB (MOLD) 6.

MASONS ARMS 2.

THE Masons men of Denbigh embarked on their second superleague match and a first away game of the campaign.

The averages were up and down as darts had stood still for 18 months and slowly comes out of it's slumber, but one thing Denbigh teams are renowned for is camaraderie, banter and laughter.

In the blissfully noisy settings of the Top Club in Mold the regulars and darters chatted and joked in the freedom of non-restricted drinking heaven as Wales fights to get back to normality.

David 'Daidoes' Davies was up first for the visitors and literally wiped the dust of his darts to perform heroically in a 4-1 defeat which with a bit of luck on the doubles could have been reversed.

Gary Williams missed chances to have a healthy lead in his game but once again doubles evaded him as he fell to a 4-2 defeat , and with Huw Watson being dealt the same scoreline in his game the visitors found themselves 3-0 down.

Former Clwyd County regular Pete Lewis showed glimpses of his old form to get The Masons on the scoreboard with a fine 4-2 win and steady 63 average.

Steve Gierke took a 2-0 lead against Clwyd County regular Phil Jones but would rue several match winning opportunities as he eventually fell to defeat in six legs.

Shane Evans was also on the end of a six leg defeat whilst the inform Derry Morris fought out a seven leg thriller, hitting a maximum and a 101 and 115 checkouts only to be beaten in the final leg.

Captain Dave Cooke anchored the team home with a steady if unspectacular victory in the last game of the evening as the Masons registered a second straight loss.
