CORWEN FC put in a five-star performance in their most recent tier three match to earn another victory.

After coming away from Penycae with a 4-1 win last Wednesday, Guy Handscombe's side continued their fine form in the Ardal North East division with a 5-0 hammering of Kerry United.

It was the home side that ought to have taken the lead in the fourth minute, when Ethan Holloway saw off the challenge of a defender and unleashed a shot beyond the stranded Corwen keeper James Mallon, but his effort hit the far post.

The home side put pressure on their visitors with a series of corners in quick succession; however despite looking dangerous early on from set-pieces none of their efforts were able to bear fruit.

In the 17th minute, Corwen's Owen Cordiner was in the thick of the action and was able to get through on goal on to go around keeper Ryan Andrew and slot the ball into an unguarded net to hand the visitors the lead.

Two minutes later, Cordiner doubled his and Corwen’s tally to make it 2-0.

Corwen’s Kel Davies had a couple of opportunities to get his name on the scoresheet before they went 3-0 up in the 37th min when Scott Evans played a corner into the box and Ryan Billington headed home.

The fourth goal would come in the second half, when with 20mins left, sub Tom Williams beat the offside trap to get one-on-one with Ryan Andrew, who he was able to get round and place the ball home.

Five minutes later, Corwen's five-star performance was capped off when Cordiner played the ball down the wing before crossing it into the six-yard box, where an unfortunate Kerry player could only divert it into the back of his own net to make it 5-0.

Corwen have now won four our of their five Ardal North East matches to date this season and are joint-top of the league with Chirk AAA.
