PARTS of the Denbigh and Flint Show were held online for the first, and it hopes, the last time during August.

Exhibits, as well as the judging of competitions were streamed live to Facebook on August 19 as the show adapted to the ongoing effects of the Covid-19 pandemic.

Livestock markets were held in St Asaph, Ruthin and Mold and winners of online competitions were also announced via social media.

Online entrants were asked to send in pictures and videos of a bit of everything from floral arrangements and ‘happiest dog’ to a ‘sheep with attitude’ and the ‘cutest calf or calves’.

Four-year-old Cradog and his ‘crazy lamb’, entered by his mother Meinir Llwyd Roberts, was given the ‘Best In Show’ prize and received a family ticket for the 2022 show.

Chair of the show's committee, Clwyd Spencer, said: "A big thanks must go to everyone who supported us, including the three markets who allowed us to set up there. A big thank you also to all of our sponsors and to Beth Reece who gave us such a presence on social media.

"The social media side of things this year has really helped us keep the Denbigh Flint County Show name and reputation alive after what has been a very difficult time for us and so many others.

"With the help of our volunteers, exhibitors, sponsors and spectators, we are very hopeful that the show will bounce back next year. This show has help re-light the fire underneath the Denbigh Flint Show and we are determined to come back strong in 2022."

During its many years, the Show has travelled all over the Counties of Flintshire – which included Wrexham – and Denbighshire, settling for a long period on the edge of Rhyl.

After many years of consideration, the move to the existing site at the Green, Denbigh took place in 1990 with agreement from Mr EMW Griffith to use part of the Ty Newydd Estate.

The show’s organisers now hope it can return in it’s face-to-face format on Thursday, August 18 2022.
