BALA TOWN hit Haverfordwest County for six in their latest JD Cymru Premier match.

After three consecutive draws, Colin Caton's side have now won their last two matches and remain one of only two unbeaten teams in the top-flight (the other being league-leaders The New Saints).

After a league win at Aberystwyth Town, the Lakesiders returned to Maes Tegid on the back of a 17-1 trouncing of Brymbo in the Welsh Cup.

That will have gone someway to giving Bala a confidence boost in front of goal and that showed against County.

Former Wales international Dave Edwards opened the scoring for Bala early on when he was found inside the area via a pinpoint Calum Woods’ cross and headed home the opener.

Woods then went from creator to goal scorer when he struck a wonderful long-range strike past Lee Idzi in goal and into the bottom corner.

The Bluebirds struck back moments later to cut the deficit to one, when Ben Fawcett found space in the box to meet a Haverfordwest cross and give his side their first of the afternoon.

Chris Venables and Paul Rutherford combined to provide Bala's third of the game as they responded within minutes of the Bluebirds cutting the deficit. The captain nodded the ball down for Rutherford to control and score.

A frantic first-half ended with a brace Edwards who smashed home Bala's fourth at the back post.

In the second half, it was the bandaged Nathan Peate who rose highest to meet the in-swinging cross and head home Bala's fifth.

Will Evans then went close twice before Haverfordwest got a late second goal of the afternoon to cut the deficit to through Kieran Lewis.

But there was still time for Bradley Bauress to come off the bench and score for Bala moments later. Chris Sang was composed in the area to locate the midfielder who netted his side's sixth goal of a memorable afternoon.
