A DENBIGHSHIRE country house has been awarded the 'AA Guest Accommodation of the Year for Wales' prize for 2021.

On Monday, September 27, the AA Hotel & Hospitality Services celebrated the best B&Bs in the UK with the announcement of this year’s AA B&B Awards.

Among the winners was Firgrove Country House B&B, based in Ruthin, which was named AA Guest Accommodation of the Year for Wales.

Inspectors praised the establishment’s “passionate hosts welcoming guests to their pristine house and gardens”.

The country house is run by Anna and Philip Meadway. Anna says it was a 'big surprise but a wonderful lift' to have been given this award after 18 months of uncertainty due to the Covid-19 pandemic and its lock downs.

She added: "“Everyone at Firgrove would like to thank the AA for this most unexpected award, and may we send on our congratulations to the rest of the award winners.”

"With guests once again visiting the area and staying in the 5 Gold Star accommodation it is a recognition of 25 years of welcoming guests into our home. The award ceremony was an online affair, so not the normal 'razzmatazz' of a big 'do' in London but very much appreciated all the same.

"Such a prize can only help with encouraging people to stay and visit the area for what everyone hopes will be a better season to come. We would like to thank all of our guests of years gone by for making hosting a very pleasant experience."

Simon Numphud, Managing Director at AA Media said: “After a challenging year for the hospitality industry, we are thrilled to celebrate the winners of the 2021 B&B Awards. For a quarter of a century these awards have championed the exceptional standards of hospitality and accommodation offered by the UK’s B&Bs, and this year’s winners continue to demonstrate the incredible hard work and dedication these establishments put into providing outstanding guest stays.”
