A HUGE grant of more than £60,000 has helped a Denbighshire community set up a new playground for children to enjoy.

The Yr Ifanc yn Ial group of Bryneglwys, near Corwen, was awarded a National Lottery Community Fund of £62,000 in February of this year.

That along with a further grant from Denbighshire County Council and generous donations from members of the community, allowed them to build the new play area.

On Sunday, September 5, around 80 adults and children attended an event to officially open the new site.

A spokesperson for the group said: "Bryneglwys Residents enjoyed a social get-together when they celebrated the opening of their newly created playground. About 80 adults and children attended the opening, which had been organized by Yr Ifanc yn Ial Playing Field Committee in cooperation with Canolfan Ial, Bryneglwys and other volunteers.

"Refreshments included a BBQ and there were book and toy stalls, a raffle and a Japanese Origami demonstration."
