A RUTHIN business has designed its own Christmas cards to help raise funds for a touching tribute in honour of a teenager killed in a crash.

Seventeen-year-old Olivia Alkir, from Efnechtyd near Ruthin, was killed in a crash on the B5105 near Ruthin on June 27, 2019.

Since the tragedy, her parents, Jo and Mesut, as well as close friend Joe Hinchcliffe, have campaigned to raise awareness about road safety and called for all young drivers to have a mandatory black box fitted in their car for their first year of driving, and for young drivers to be limited to only one passenger during that time.

Now, a new fundraiser has been launched by the family to help transform a piece of art by Olivia - depicting a village road which now leads to the cemetery where she is buried - into a stained glass window.

It will be placed at Efnechtyd's St Michael and All Angels Parish Church as another lasting legacy to the teenager described as 'beautiful and clever' by her parents.

A JustGiving link on a website set up in Olivia's memory is hoping to collect £15,000 to design and install the stained glass window, hopefully by Christmas.

To help with raising funds, Hill and Roberts have designed their own Christmas cards, with proceeds going towards the cause.

Hill and Roberts' Ffion Hampson said: "The cards come in seven designs and are available in Welsh or English. Six of the designs have been produced digitally by my two daughters, Nanw and Mabli.

"The other card is a coloured pencil portrait drawn by a member of our staff, Carol Hughes with a Christmas hat added digitally to the drawing.

"The cards are £5 for 5 and are for sale in a basket outside our office between 9 and 5 on a Monday to Friday."

The cards can also be ordered from rhuthunhandr@gmail.com.
