RHYL RFC officially formed in 1928, however records show rugby being played in the area well before that.

The club had a nomadic existence for many years playing in Prestatyn, on the now Pontins site, and Kinmel Bay among other venues until acquiring premises at the Waen in Rhuddlan in 1972.

The clubhouse and grounds were built by a small group of volunteers and served the club until leaving for Tynewydd Road in 2018.

The club were founding members of the North Wales league and, other than spending several years in the then national leagues in the 1990s, have played in that ever since.

It now field teams from under-sevens to youth level, with two senior men’s and a ladies team.

In 2000 the club purchased the British legion club on Vale Road and have operated as a community club ever since.

The move into Rhyl has proved successful with increased junior numbers and the clubhouse highly popular in the community.
