THE artistic skills of a Denbigh school pupil will be seen by thousands, after his design was awarded first place in the annual Christmas card competition of Vale of Clwyd MP Dr James Davies.

Once again, hundreds of children from every corner of the constituency entered the festive competition and Dr Davies' constituency office in Prestatyn was inundated with entries.

There was an overall winner from every school, but year four pupil at Denbigh's Ysgol Frongoch, Oscar Jones, was selected as the overall winner with his scenic, snowy picture.

Dr Davies said: “Once again, the competition attracted some fantastic entries and choosing an overall winner wasn’t easy, but my team and I all felt there was something special about Oscar’s design and it has now been printed and sent out to over 3,000 people and businesses across the Vale of Clwyd, Parliament and beyond.

“I would like to thank all the children who entered the competition and had clearly put so much effort into their designs.

“Also, many thanks to teachers, parents and sponsors for their support.”

The individual school winners were Aiden Birch, year six, Ysgol Llywelyn; Amelia Gregory, year six, Fairholme Preparatory School; Daniel Bayliss, year four, Ysgol Emmanuel; Emma Rothwell, year three, Ysgol y Castell; Fern Jones, year one, Ysgol Bodfari; Harry Thomas, year five, St Brigid’s School; Holly Oldfield, Ysgol Tir Morfa; James Hepple, year six, Ysgol Henllan; Sophie Begley, year five, Ysgol Esgob Morgan; and Tilley Lamb, year six, Ysgol Melyd.

Dr Davies’ Christmas card was sponsored by Andrea's Lettings, LL Estates, Flower Tops Florist, Phoenix Optical Technologies, The CookHouse, Salisbury Accountants, Snowdonia Cheese Company, M&H Coaches, Tiny Tots Day Nursery, Lyons Holiday Parks and Second Chance.
