RUTHIN Farmers' Auction reports sales of 1,067 prime hoggets to £140 / 309.5ppk and 466 ewes to £228.

Prime hoggs (auctioneer-Rich Lloyd):

5,525 head of prime stock sold this week.

Made up of 3,797 hoggs, 477 prime lambs and 1,251 cull ewes sold.

The end of a busy week here at Ruthin with a very good hoggett entry today of 1,067 forward and yet again a good trade.

Trade was on par with the previous week.

Plenty of demand as the weather continues to improve.

Top price goes to Hughes, Ystrad Fawr selling a 10 month old BB bullock to £1340.

Closely behind was Roberts, Caerfamaeth selling a 10 month old Lim bullock to £1230, with a 10 month old Lim heifer to £1140.

3760 total head of sheep sold, being 477 prime lambs, 2500 prime hoggets and 787 ewes.

Spring lambs returned an SQQ of 349.5ppk or £131.64 per head average all through.
