A VALE of Clwyd referee will be officiating at one of the world's greatest rugby stadiums this weekend.

Ed Brown, from Denbigh, will be the man in the middle for the Welsh Rugby Union's National Bowl final between Bryncethin and Llanharan.

This match is being played at Cardiff's Principality Stadium on Saturday.

Ed, 44, was understandably shocked when he found out he was going to referee at the venue.

"I was absolutely shocked, I had to check the email about 10 times to make sure it was right!" he said.

"Going to the Principality Stadium is something you dream about.

"Referees love the game as much as anyone."

It is the latest progression of his career, with Ed previously playing the sport.

"I was playing until I was 33 and I was constantly injured," said Ed.

"My dad suggested I give refereeing a go as I didn’t want to stop being involved in the game and love being on the pitch."
