WREXHAM AFC boss Phil Parkinson has stressed that his side are focused on this weekend's FA Trophy Final, despite the looming play-off semi final.

Parkinson has experienced Wembley before having taken Bradford to the Capital One Cup Final and Play-off final during his time there.

On Sunday, he will lead his side out at the proverbial home of football. It will be the third time in nine years that the Reds have made the FA Trophy Final.

Sunday kicks off a big week for Wrexham, as following the final, they will play host to Notts County or Grimsby in the play-off semi final on Saturday.

Despite promotion being the main ambition at the start of the season, Parkinson insists that he and his side are fully focused on this weekend.

"For every team promotion is the priority, we've got ourselves in second place which gives us an advantage going into the play-offs," he said.

"But with the FA Trophy, as we've progressed through the rounds it's gathered more momentum from our supporters, and everybody connected with the club, and I think the magnitude of the win against Stockport really captured the imagination of Wrexham fans.

"Football is about winning trophies and playing in big games, to play at Wembley I think is huge for all the players and all the staff to be there.

"For all our supporters to see your own team at Wembley is a moment to see, people don’t forget that."

The Reds boss did reveal that there were some injury concerns amongst the group, but is looking forward to seeing his side play at Wembley.

He added: "We are focused on Sunday, but we do have a few niggles in and around the group and I certainly wouldn’t risk anybody in this game to the detriment of the following weekend.

"It’s fantastic to go to Wembley, but it’s a great place to win. When I was at Bradford and we won in the play-off final, that’s one of my best days in my footballing career.

"It is a fantastic stage, but you want to be coming away with the trophy.

"We’ve got good players, we’ve got a good team, we’ve shown all season. The better the players, the better the team the more you’ll relish the stage and I’m looking forward to seeing us play this weekend."
