THERE was opening day stage success for local youngsters to celebrate.
Competition got underway early on Monday morning, with three pavilions being used.
Evan Cunningham, of Ysgol Trefnant, was first in the year six and under guitar solo, while Benjamin Jolley, of Ysgol Bro Cernyw, was top of the pile in percussion tool solo (year six and under).
Emrys Jarman (Adran Meirionnydd) finished as the runner-up year two and under cerdd dant solo competition, with the party from Ysgol Bro Cernyw winning the year six and under unison cerdd dant party category.

That was a successful competition locally, with the party from Ruthin's Ysgol Pen Barras in second.
Another first place went to Ysgol Trefnant's Alys Cunningham, in the years three and four learners' recitation event, with Olivia Ashbrooke (Ysgol Talhaiarn) third in the competition, while Ysgol Llanfair Dyffryn Clwyd ruled a folk dancing section!
The school had two finalists in the year six and under class for schools with up to 100 pupils, as Cerys's group won and Anni's group was in third spot.
