A VALE of Clwyd schoolgirl has raised hundreds of pounds for a worthy cause... by having her hair cut!

Lily Muse, aged 10 and a pupil at Ysgol Frongoch in Denbigh, had her impressively long hair cut with it then being donated to the Little Princess Trust.

Initially, Lily hoped to raise £100 from the venture, but she brilliantly raised more than £450.

Lily had her hair cut to help out the Little Princess Trust and before the big day, Lily's mum Yazmin said: "She has done it before, about two-or-three years ago and then she said she wanted to grow her hair again!

"She's had the occasional trim since then."

Lily's hair, which was over 12 inches long, was cut at E Clipz, in Denbigh.

The Little Princess Trust was established in 2006 by the parents of Hannah Tarplee, their friends and Hereford Cathedral Junior School.

In 2004 Hannah was diagnosed with a Wilms tumour. Hannah loved her hair and losing it was very traumatic for her.

Her parents, Wendy and Simon, searched high and low to find a wig suitable for Hannah, during her treatment. When they found one, it had a hugely positive effect on Hannah.

Tragically, Hannah passed away in 2005 and with so many kind offers of financial and practical help, Wendy and Simon felt the most fitting tribute would be to launch a charity dedicated to providing real hair wigs for children and young people.

Since then, they have provided thousands of real hair wigs to sick children and young people, aged up to 24 years across the UK and Ireland.
