IT'S a case of one down and one left to go for green-fingered enthusiasts in the Vale of Clwyd!

In a busy summer for Denbigh in Bloom, judges were in the town earlier this month.

They were from Wales in Bloom, to look at the town's floral arrangements during the summer.

Now, the busy schedule continues later this week.

This Thursday, July 28, the town will be welcoming judges from the Britain in Bloom competition.

In a message posted on Twitter, Denbigh in Bloom said: "We need help on Wednesday 27th July.

"The Britain in Bloom judges come to #Dinbych #Denbigh on Thursday 28th July!

"We'll be meeting outside Carpet Emporium at 5pm and be working until 7pm 'ish'.

"If you can help for even one hour we would be very grateful."

Prior to the visit from Wales in Bloom judges, Denbigh in Bloom chair Lyndsey Tasker said: "We are facing a couple more issues this year than we usually do in that we have fewer volunteers than in normal years, so would greatly appreciate anything anyone can do to assist us.

"This could be something as simple as every business brushing, weeding and clearing outside their business premises.

"If residents can do the same outside their homes then it means we have a greater chance of the competition being successful."

Denbigh in Bloom is eager to maintain its gold standard, but it understands a lot of hard work is needed to achieve this.

Before the big day this Thursday, Lyndsey added: "Volunteers have dedicated numerous hours to maintaining our displays and project sites - Temple Bar Gardens, Trewen and the roundabout beds.

"We'll be welcoming the RHS Britain in Bloom judges to our town for the first time, which is both exciting and a little overwhelming!"
