A new community fridge is set to be located at Eirianfa Community Centre, in Denbigh.

This new venture is being launched on Monday, November 21 and the community fridge will be open to residents every Monday and Thursday morning between 10am and 12pm.

Eirianfa Community Centre manager Amanda Cunningham said: “We know that this is going to be a hard winter for all of us, so we are really pleased to be able to offer this option to the entire community.

"It will help us to use surplus food from local shops and local vegetable growers, as well as providing extra food for those who need it.”

All the food will be free and anyone is welcome to go along and make use of it.

Food waste is currently a big issue in the UK.

The average household throws away £700 worth of food every year and at the same time, four million people in the UK are living in food poverty.

The hope is that this community fridge will provide a practical way for people to take what they need, or give what they don’t.
