THE Forge in Basingstoke will bring a variety of musical acts to the town this May. 

Two-time Grammy-nominated Kim Richey, who will come to The Forge on May 17, is a storyteller with a voice so pure, arresting, and honest, it aches with life's truths. She transports the listener to a world where words paint pictures and melodies touch the soul. Her songs have been featured in films and television series over the years, ranging from Nashville and Bones, to Buffy the Vampire Slayer and Dawson's Creek.

English soul-blues singer, songwriter, and guitarist Mississippi MacDonald is a six times British/UK Blues Awards and three times US Independent Blues Awards nominee. He makes his Forge debut on May 18. His first record for APM, Do Right, Say Right, was named in the Top 10 Blues Albums of 2022 by Mojo Magazine. Mississippi's songs are authentic, heartfelt, and reflect a lifetime of learning from the greats.

One of the most jaw-dropping jazz pianists of our time, Joe is renowned for his relentless creative flow, stride playing and authentic jazz flair. His music embraces the jazz tradition with nods to popular music along the way. Will was raised in the New York City Area where he grew up playing jazz and Appalachian folk music. His performance highlights include Wynton Marsalis, Kit Downes, and a featured soloist with the London Sinfonietta.

Another treat is the multi-award winning Antonio Forcione (May 24). This acoustic guitarist and composer is a highly charismatic and inventive performer, with his vibrant and original blend of jazz, Latin, African, and flamenco sounds. Don’t miss this opportunity to catch Forcione completely on his own, when he lets his creative spirit run freely. Man and guitar become one as he showcases a mind-boggling variety of style and form, using every possible part of the musical instrument in a spectacular display of musicianship.

Charismatic, authentic, and thoroughly entertaining, Lawrence Menard (USA) and Clare Quinn (AUS) are the transpacific-troubadours known as Those Folk (25 May). A partnership forged in the fires of folk music, their songwriting explores love, hope and belonging. Breathtaking vocal harmonies are featured alongside rich instrumental work performed on guitar, piano, accordion, mandolin, and banjo; their sound inspired by the likes of Simon & Garfunkel.

Grammy-nominated musician Dr Martin Taylor, MBE, (May 31) is a virtuoso guitarist and composer. Widely considered to be the world's foremost exponent of solo jazz and fingerstyle guitar playing, Martin possesses an inimitable style that has earned him global recognition from fellow musicians, fans, and critics alike. He dazzles audiences with a signature style that combines his virtuosity, emotion, and humour with a strong, engaging stage presence.
