THOSE living in the county of Meirionnydd can expect a farmhouse breakfast bonanza this week.

The local Farmers’ Union of Wales (FUW) team is hosting a total of four breakfast functions this week's around the county.

The events are organised as part of the FUW’s farmhouse breakfast week campaign (January 22 - January 27), which aims to raise the profile of Welsh produce and get politicians, key stakeholders and the general public to understand the important role the food and drink sector plays in their everyday lives.

“We are building on the success of previous years in Meirionnydd and look forward to four breakfast events this year," said FUW Meirionnydd county executive officer Huw Jones.

"Again, we are grateful to everyone for their support and co-operation, and of course to those who are sponsoring the events.”

The first in the series of breakfasts took place yesterday (Tuesday, January 23) at Caffi Frongoch, near Bala.

Today (Wednesday, January 24), a breakfast will be held at Tymawr, in Carrog.

FUW president Glyn Roberts will be the guest speaker and it will start at 8.30am.

Following on from this, the Llew Coch, in Dinas Mawddwy, will be the setting for

a breakfast from 8.30am tomorrow (Thursday, January 25).

At this breakfast, the guest speaker will be the well-known tenor Aled Wyn Davies, from Pentremawr, Llanbrynmair.

Turning to Friday, January 26 and it's the turn of Ganolfan / Siop Y Pentref, Llanfrothen to host a breakfast (8.30am).

Dwyfor Meirionnydd MP Liz Saville Roberts will be the guest speaker at this event.

Huw Jones added: “We want you to be a part of what we do and I would like to extend a very warm welcome to you all and hope many of you can join us at one of our breakfast functions.

“Decision makers and key stakeholders who are joining us will see the vital part farmers play in maintaining our rural communities, in sustaining a viable and profitable agricultural sector and of course producing excellent food.”
