A former pub and restaurant has been transformed into a luxury guest house.

The Grousemoor, previously known as the Plough Inn in Llandegla, has undergone a significant renovation and is reopening as a five-bedroom luxury B&B, wedding and events venue.

Co-owners Brian Jones and Pamela Morris, brother and sister from Llandegla, renovated the site which had been closed for 18 months before work started.

They were also provided with a small business grant from Denbighshire Council as well as support from the council’s Economic and Business Development team.

Mr Jones, a long-established sheep and arable farmer, said: “We have been working on the project for several months and are delighted with the result.

“Changing the name to The Grousemoor was a difficult decision, but we needed a new name for the fresh image and the venue's new life as a luxury guest house.

“Llandegla and Denbighshire as a whole offer so much and as well as welcoming local visitors, we will be attracting guests from all over the world.”

Mrs Morris, who runs an award-winning guest house in Horseman’s Green, near Whitchurch, said: “We are initially opening with five superior guest bedrooms and will be working on a further five rooms over the next 12 months.

“A lot of hard work has gone into the renovation. We are proud to be opening a business in Llandegla and adding to the tourism offer in the area.

“The Grousemoor will not be opening as a restaurant, but we will be offering pre-booked afternoon teas and private parties/functions within the dining rooms.

"We will be looking to use local produce to help other local businesses.

"All the rooms have been individually designed and have been fitted out with quality furnishing you would expect from a five-star establishment.”

Cllr Hugh Evans OBE, leader of Denbighshire Council, said: "It is great to see this level of investment in the county.

"Denbighshire offers visitors a wealth of activities set in stunning scenery and businesses like this enhance the experience.

"As part of our work to support local businesses we were pleased to be able to support the Grousemoor with a business grant."

The official opening of the Grousemoor will take place on Friday, March 2 and guests will include Clwyd South AM Ken Skates, Welsh Government Cabinet Secretary for Economy and Transport.
