Plans to expand free range egg production at Corwen were given the go ahead by Conwy's planners last week.

An application had been submitted to extend an existing production unit at Parc, Ty Nant, Corwen.

Mrs Delyth Jones, told the planning committee she, her husband and two children worked in the existing plant, but for it to be viable in the longer term it needed further investmnet and expansion. "We took over ownership in 2013 of a sheep farm and in 2016 we were had planning permission which allowed us to invest in a 16,000 free range egg production unit. All four of us have worked very hard in what has been a big challenge.

"Welsh eggs are strongly sought after and we think further investment will provide a sustainable, viable and profitable future and will allow us to carry on farming lambs as well. Diversification is critical for survival, we don't want to give up farming. That is why we want to invest in a further 16,000 unit. This will create full time work for us and will also create a further part time job.
