STRONG winds and "wintry" showers are set to hit North Wales.

The Met Office has issued a yellow weather warning for wind. The warning is in force from just after midnight until 9am tomorrow morning.

Gusts of 50 to 60mph are "likely" but winds could reach up to 70mph in places. The gust are expected as Storm Georgina strikes - Latest forecasts reveal a deep area of low pressure will affect the British Isles Wednesday evening into Thursday.

A chief forecaster assessment said: "There is some uncertainty over the peak gusts, but there is a small chance of winds reaching 70 mph in places - most likely across coastal North Wales and North West England during the middle part of the night and then across parts of Lincolnshire and East Anglia early on Thursday morning."
