A 13 year old Ruthin boy has won the Welsh championship for two ski-ing competitions.

Ted Evans took the winning prizes in the Welsh Alpine National Ski Championship held in Champery, Switzerland for the under 14 slalom and giant slalom events.

He said he learned to ski at the age on six while on a family holiday in the Alps. At the age of 11 went on to attend a race ski school.

Two years ago he won the Under 12 Welsh Championships for Slalom and Giant Slalom.

He said: "The real honor was to win the Overall Welsh Male Alpine Champion which is across all age groups, from Under 10 to Under 18.

"The presentation evening is staged in an outside theatre on the high street in Champery, where crowds gathered to celebrate and enjoy the fireworks and praise the youngsters for their efforts in this very special competition.

"I feel blessed and chuffed to be standing on the podium winning our national race once again."

He will now compete the English Championships to be held in Bormeo, Italy.
