PRESTATYN TOWN 2

RUTHIN TOWN 3

TRIPS to Prestatyn appear to be right up Ruthin Town's street.

Last season, with Prestatyn Town a Welsh Premier League club, Chris Williams' charges caused a major stir with an epic 3-0 Welsh Cup triumph.

Both sides are now in the Huws Gray Alliance and Ruthin were successful once more during their visit to the Bastion Road venue, making sure they climbed into the top-six in the standings.

Ruthin dominated the match from the start right through to the 87th minute.

Up until this point, the visiting side looked comfortable against a team that appeared to be suffering from the effects of all the recent changes that have happened at Prestatyn recently.

Debutant Tomos Williams opened the scoring for the away Town in the 25th minute.

He cut in from the left and shot under Prestatyn Town keeper Christian Wright.

Ruthin played some decent football, winning much of the second balls and moving possession around well.

On the other hand, Prestatyn tended to give the ball away and this made it a difficult afternoon for them, with Ruthin taking full advantage of this.

Making the most of their dominance, Ruthin's second goal arrived just before the break when Mathew Evans (Prion) scored with a powerful header from a corner.

Ruthin continued on the front foot when the second half got underway.

They appeared certain to extend their advantage when Osian Davies' long range shot looked destined for the goal, but Christian Wright brilliantly tipped it against the post.

It was pretty much game over when Ruthin did go three goals clear with 18 minutes remaining.

Following a long clearance from goalkeeper Ryan Goldston, striker Llyr Morris bagged a magnificent seventh league goal of the campaign.

There seemed to be no way back for Prestatyn, but they did finish the afternoon on the front foot.

Ian Griffiths pulled a goal back for Prestatyn in the 87th minute and it was game on once again two minutes later when Matthew Griffiths took advantage of an unsettled visiting defence.

These strikes handed Ruthin a nervy closing few minutes, but they maintained their advantage through until the final whistle.

On the back of their fourth win of the campaign, Ruthin are now up to sixth in the table and they currently trail second-placed Flint Town United by only two points.
