DERBY action was a big part of the weekend for Ruthin's mini-junior section.

In the U-11 age group, Ruthin hosted a well-organised Dinbych in a local derby at Cae Ddol.

Dinbych took an early lead, which they were able to maintain despite Ruthin's best efforts.

Harri scored Ruthin's only try on his debut this season.

This try was converted by Ruthin's player of the match Jack.

Ruthin fielded a number of players who are new to the sport this season and they all performed well.

Both teams battled well and in the true spirit of the game.

There was a tight tussle as Ruthin U-13s paid a visit to tackle Bala.

In the end, it was the visitors who ran out narrow 24-22 victors.

Ruthin U-16s bagged a 31-0 success during their visit to Denbighshire rivals Rhyl.

There were two tries here for Sam Morgan, with James Duley, Jack Edwards and Jonni Griffiths crossing for one apiece.

Griffiths kicked three conversions over the course of the game.

In further weekend action, Ruthin U-10s lost 40-12 to a strong Oswestry side.

Best wishes from his teammates go to Gethin, who broke his arm during the game.

There was an extra training session for Ruthin U-7s due to a cancelled game, while there was no scheduled match for Ruthin U-8s.
