DENBIGH TOWN U-15s 1

CYMRU DRAGONS 1

THE Rhinos were held at home by a resolute Cymru Dragons in a competitive draw.

Denbigh's home record is always strong and it is only the second time since April 2015 that they have been held to a stalemate at the Rec.

It didn't start well for the hosts, though, as they were caught napping by the Dragons.

Jake Jones was given no chance as the Rhyl outfit scored from close range in the 10th minute.

Luckily for the home side, they weren't behind for long as Bradley Roberts pounced on a Callum Jones-Davies free kick, eventually firing in at the second attempt.

The referee had to speak to both captains to control their teammates' challenges, but in truth this was a hard fought, but fair, encounter with neither team surrendering an inch. In fact, it was the home team who had some grievance as Iwan Moores' expertly taken finish appeared to be onside when ruled off and then Finn McCoole was presented with the clearest sight of goal, only for the referee to blow up and pull play back with no advantage.

Guto Owen stung the fingertips of the visiting goalkeeper with a strike, Gruff Mars-Jones nearly latched onto a dangerous Roberts corner and the impressive Owen Williams sliced an audacious effort wide as the majority of the chances came and went for Denbigh.

Cymru Dragons threatened too, with Jake Jones saving well with his feet, but overall a draw was probably a fair result.
