HENLLAN kept pace with Vale of Clwyd and Conwy League Division One leaders Llanelwy Athletic thanks to a thrilling 4-3 home win over St Asaph City Reserves.

The title hopefuls got off to the best possible start and went ahead after four minutes through Dave Wilkins, before Kevin Davies also found the net with 35 gone.

After the break saw the home side add to their tally through Kieran Kendrick a minute following the restart, and the same player was on hand to despatch another opportunity for his brace with 49 gone.

The Saints kept things very interesting throughout, with Ethan Jones helping himself to a pair of well-taken efforts to continue his fine run of goalscoring form, with Lewis Thomas also on target for the away side after finishing off a sweeping team move.

Despite facing significant pressure in the closing stages, the hosts held on for another crucial three points that keeps them within six points of Athletic with a game in hand.

They will look to maintain their extremely consistent start to the season this Saturday when they entertain Rhuddlan Town Reserves.
