LLANGOLLEN Town continued their fine start to the Welsh National League Wrexham Area Division One campaign thanks to a hard-earned 1-1 draw at Castell Alun.

The visitors turned in a resolute display to emerge with a share of the spoils, and the point sees them occupy fourth spot in the early standings, seven points behind current leaders Plas Madoc.

Ruthin Town Reserves remain in title contention thanks to an eye-catching 4-1 triumph at Chirk AAA.

A stunning second half display saw them emerge with all three points to move to within two points of leaders Mold Alexandra, with Will Owen firing a brace together with solitary efforts from Connor Lloyd and Charlie Williams.

Manager Chris Hardy, said: “It was a great second half from the lads after going in at half-time 1-1.

“With an average age of under 19, these lads keep showing great maturity and discipline every week.”

Corwen Reserves were unable to cause an upset on home soil as they fell to a 3-1 loss to league-leading Mold.

There was further cause for celebration from a Ruthin Town perspective as their Development side came away from their trip to Johnstown YFC with an emphatic 6-0 success.

Talented youngster Owen Cordiner was the star of the show and was rewarded for his exceptional display with a four-goal salvo that played a huge contributing factor in the win, with Tom Howatson and Marray Hughes also finding the net during the rout.

Llangollen Town Reserves were unable to replicate this feat on their travels and were defeated 5-2 at Mynydd Isa Spartans.
