RUTHIN 34

LLANGEFNI 10

THE brilliant Blues are still flying high.

It's now four wins on the bounce for Ruthin after a fine 34-10 success at home to Llangefni saw them retain their top-three position in the standings.

Ruthin got off to a good start and they went into the lead after just five minutes of play.

Number eight Jordan Jones went over the whitewash for a try.

The Blues kept up the pressure after this, with the pack performing well against Llangefni’s big forwards.

After 20 minutes this pressure told with try number two coming from wing Bryn Sheppard.

The visitors responded to these early scores and for the last quarter-of-an-hour of the first half, much of the play was in Ruthin’s half, with Llangefni trying to reduce the arrears.

The Blues' defence held, though, and play returned to the visitors’ territory.

On half-time, fly half Phyl Roberts went over the whitewash for his side's third try, with full back Dyfan Humphreys converting.

The home side continued on the attack after the break and 10 minutes after the restart, wing Josh Wilson broke through Cefni’s defence to offload for second row Sion Roberts to gain Ruthin's bonus point try.

Humphreys again added the conversion points.

Once more, the visitors responded and they eventually gained the better of the Blues' defence, with Greg Horseman going over for a try.

The gap widened again within five minutes when Josh Wilson once more broke through and he offloaded to centre Emyr Gwynedd for the Blues' fifth try.

Yet again, Llangefni came back and they were rewarded with a try from Sior Greaves.

It was fitting that the final word went the way of the Blues, though, and in the 80th minute Josh Wilson grabbed the concluding try.

Dyfan Humphreys added the conversion points.

The final score was 36-12 to Ruthin, finishing off a good day for the club, with both the youth and 2nd XVs winning their matches against Newtown and Bethesda respectively.
