HENLLAN U-16s 1

DENBIGH TOWN U-15s 3

DENBIGH Town Rhinos U-15s overcame a strong second half showing from second in the table Henllan U-16s to register a 3-1 win in a pulsating derby match up at Top Park.

Bradley Roberts won himself and then slotted in the penalty that gave the Rhinos a 15th minute lead after a bright start.

There were chances at both ends, but it was Henllan that went closest when they struck the post of Jake Jones' goal from a corner, before equalising from a fortuitous rebound that ran through to Sion Williams to finish expertly into the far corner.

As the game ebbed and flowed approaching half-time, Jake Roberts produced a moment of brilliance.

Collecting a flick-on and from distance, he found the top corner of the Henllan goal with an audacious shot to give Denbigh the lead going into the interval.

The second half saw Henllan press for an equaliser, but they were met by the sturdy defensive duo of Gruff Mars Jones and Jake D Roberts, who was nominated as man of the match.

When they were breached, Jake Jones was on hand to thwart Henllan, but one chance he could only watch was when Harry Jones dragged wide through a crowded area as Denbigh tested their luck.

There was no luck involved in Iwan Moores' free kick goal at the death, though.
