TRIPS across the border marked the weekend for a number of local rugby sides.

There was another great day as Ruthin U-7s paid a visit to Oswestry.

The players showed great passing, ball skills and excellent running.

In the end, it was Ruthin who came out on top by a 39-32 margin.

Ruthin U-8s also travelled in force to Oswestry, putting in a Barbarian-style display of running rugby to please coaches and spectators alike.

A combination of great support play and individual skills secured a draw in this try-fest against a well-drilled Oswestry side.

The team can now go into their Christmas break confident that the progress made so far suggests more success in the second half of the season.

Ruthin U-12s also had a great day at Oswestry.

They gave their best team performance of the year to score 13 tries.

Good low tackles, quick rucking and passing to support players kept everyone involved.

The nod for the man of the match went to Twm, whose super fast footwork and explosive running earned him his first two tries of the season.
